For information on 944 Sway Bars and Parts for Sway Bars Click Here. Hi folks - just a friendly reminder that these cars are getting a little old, and previous owners do crazy things... sometimes to your benefit.
When ordering replacement bushings for your sway bars, always measure to be sure you know exactly what you have. It's a real mystery sometimes in just following the actual progression of 924/944/968 sway bars. With sport options and mid-year changes, you can usually have 2-3 combinations of sway bars.
Further, if a Rennlister previously owned the car, or if the car was used for track or autocross, there's a very good possibility that modifications were done... maybe you'll find the golden goose egg of 30/19 bars (968 M030 option, retrofittable to all models).
It does not take a pricey instrument to measure the sway bar diameter, though something other than a circumference string and (Pi)d is recommended. Most auto parts stores will have a very inexpensive plastic vernier caliper that will work just fine - I think I paid $4 for one at NAPA. Good for use on greasy, slimy, nasty car parts that would gum up your expensive wood-cased caliper you might be using for journal measurements.
We have this chart that chronicles the sway bars available throughout the years, but you'll see that there is some interpretation needed:
